I’m Tim Morton, and I write about physical activity, health and active ageing.
I came to the north east to study when I was 19 and fell in love with the region so never returned home! I’ve been lucky to have a varied career which has included managing garden centres, running recycling campaigns and a few years presenting on the BBC. My role before I retired last year was Head of Physical Activity at Parkinson’s UK, which really opened my eyes to the importance of being mentally and physically active, especially as we age.
I’ve lived in the Tyne Valley for the last 25 years, and most days now you’ll find me trying to practice what I preach out and about in the region; either walking, running, cycling or scrambling around one of the historic sites Northumberland is famous for.
